American hip pop group The Black Eyed Peas will be performing next month at the Venetian Macao, according to the group’s official website.
They will be heading here as part of their 13-country ‘Black, Blue and You’ world tour which will see the group travel across Asia including India, Shanghai and Singapore, but not Hong Kong.
The date of the concert has been set for October 27, to be played at the Venetian’s Arena stadium.
Originating from Los Angeles, California the four-member group is composed of will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo, and Fergie.
Since the launch of their debut album Elephunk in 2003 and the stand-out songs “Where Is The Love?,” “Shut Up” and ‘Let’s get It Started,” the group have amassed international fame for their pop influenced hip-hop style of music, with a massive 27 million albums and singles sold worldwide so far.
That first album afforded the group several accolades including 7.5 million sales of the album, four Grammy nominations and one Grammy award.
Their next album Monkey Business was released in 2005, ensuring the group’s world-wide reputation.
The success of the first album ensured continuous touring by the group for 18 months, with the second album described by will.i.am as, “very much about the types of songs we play live. It’s about a party. It’s layered differently and has energy to it that reflects how we tour – from the beats to the types of instruments we used to how we interact with the audience. It’s very much about us and the crowd on this record.”
Monkey Business spawned such hits as “Pump It”, “Don’t Phunk With My Heart” and the James Brown collaboration “They Don’t Want Music.”
The group is expected to release their fifth album The E.N.D (The Energy Never Dies) in November next year and will also feature Fergie, despite rumours of the singer going solo permanently.
Their most recent award was the Grammy this year for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with the song “My Humps.”
