Several large pieces of concrete fell from a 5th floor residential building housing jewellery store Luk Fook, although no pedestrians were injured and no damage was caused to the store.
The incident occurred yesterday between 5:30 and 6:30 pm at the corner of Av Infante D. Henrique and Av. D Joao IV.
There were two Public Security Police (PSP) as well as six officers from the Fire Brigade on hand to assist with securing the area and preventing pedestrians from endangering themselves.
The building has been confirmed as being very old and therefore unstable by a member of the Fire Brigade.
The matter will be handed over to the PSP who will then take up the issue with the Land, Transport and Public Works Bureau to determine the building’s future safety.
